"I really value Keith's experience and am very impressed at how well equipped he is. For complex fabrication and machine work he is the best around. Keith has a very calm approach to solving problems, and I can come to him and talk out solutions. His pricing is completely balanced by the value of workmanship. "

"We only have one outage a year, and only 9 days to get everything done. We have to get it right the first time on time.
The problem: I had twenty output shafts on our Stretch Mill gear box that were grooved and badly worn. In 2002 the previous Maintenance manager took the gear box apart and replaced all the output shafts. He and the maintenance guys worked around the clock and did a wonderful job in only 15 days they had it backup and in production. That repair cost was five hundred and two thousand dollars.
I brought in two machine companies to look at the job. The first company never gave me a quote? The second company sent a salesman in and he gave me a quote, but didn’t do any home work. He didn’t check clearances for the portable lathe, bolt patterns, ask for prints nothing. I called Climax the portable machine manufacture and found that, neither of the two companies I had in for quotes owned the correct machine, Climax PL2000, for our job because of the limited clearances on our gear box. Climax recommended Keith Malencia of Ginger Hill Portable Machining and Welding. Climax said Keith owned at least one of every machine they made. Within 30 minutes of Keith’s arrival in our plant, I knew I had found the right Guy. Keith was very confident, not cocky, there’s a big difference! Keith’s asked for drawings, checked for clearances, and took one of our old shafts, a sleeves, and a hub, to make up a mounting jig and a custom tool for cutting our gear box shafts so we could shrink fit a repair sleeve on all twenty of them. Keith did the necessary homework to assure us that the job would go to plan.
The job didn’t go exactly as planned, Keith finished in three days! I had planned five days for the machining work to be completed. Our maintenance guys got to have Thanksgiving day with their families with mixed emotions cause they lost out on double time. I almost forgot Keith also made a portable press for pressing on the repair sleeves. Our Management is elated that We did a job for under $30k that in 2002 cost over $500k.
Summary: Keith did the necessary homework to assure us that the job would go to plan.

If Keith ropes cattle like he does portable machining? He could make a living as Roping Clinician!"
